I grew up in New Mexico and my love and passion for horses started at a very early age. Having caught the horse bug from my Grandfather, who rode Lippazans in the Calvary. My first riding animal was a Donkey named, Padro, that I got at the age of 12 and my first horse was a bay mare named “Sugar”, not broke to ride but was very sweet so it did not take much to get her going under saddle.
I got my 2nd horse, Chico at the age of 13. This mare was not broke, was scared of the halter and would rear over backwards, but with my calm and gentle nature I was able to gain Chico’s trust and our relationship turned into a willing partnership. Later, I was even crowned “New Mexico FFA-FHA-4H Rodeo Fair Queen” on Chico. The knowledge I gained from my Grandfather and the experience of working with my own horses made it possible for me to help friends and neighbors with their horses. My gift with horses was soon recognized by all who knew me.
As a young girl I competed in local 4H competitions and playdays, as a young lady I went on to compete in breed shows and exercising race horses. I’ve shown Arabians, Quarter Horses, Miniatures, Shetlands and Welsh Ponies. In 1995 I began studying Parelli Natural Horsemanship. In the 5 years I devoted to Parelli Natural Horsemanship, I completed a 2 year instructor apprenticeship program and achieved my Level 2 Certification. As a student instructor, I discovered that I really enjoyed coaching and helping students achieve greater success with their horses. As a result, I provided private lessons to new students and assisted Senior Instructors with PNH clinics.
A computer instructor in a past career, I now utilize my training skills in my work with people and horses. My ability to break things down into a simplified, step-by-step process is a benefit for my students. Sharing my love of horses and teaching people how to communicate more effectively with their horses is my greatest passion. My goal is to help every student achieve a special connection with their horse, like I share with mine.
I am very passionate about teaching people how to communicate more effectively with their horses so that they can have a special connection like I share with my horses.
I have been involved in the horse world for over 30 years. I have trained, shown and competed in equestrian events. I bring, to each horse and rider I work with, a comprehensive and well rounded approach to horsemanship. I am devoted to continuous learning, always gleaning whatever I can from great Horseman and Women who have proven their skills. Through my journey with horses, I’ve developed my own training and coaching style. I call it, “Passionate Horsemanship!”
